| | | Life and Dignity of the Human Person | Call To Family, Community and Participation | Rights and Responsibilities | Option for the Poor and Vulnerable | Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers | Solidarity | Care for God's Creation | | Each person is created in God's image; each person reflects the goodness and beauty of God. Therefore, the imperative to uphold life and respect the dignity of each person is the foundation on which Catholic Social Teaching is built. |
| We are not solitary, but members of our families and communities. We are called to participate in our families and communities and to transform our society into a just one. We are called to love God and neighbor! |
| Because each person has dignity, a just society upholds the rights of individuals. Members of a just society recognize that with their rights come responsibilities. The two work hand in hand. |
| The scriptures affirm that a truly just society considers the needs of the weakest first: the poor, the vulnerable, those who need the most help. |
| When we work, we participate in the ongoing renewal of God's Creation. Work is more than a way to make an income; it's an activity with inherent dignity. We must uphold the rights of workers. |
| We are all one human family! |
| God made the world, and God's creation is good! The least we can do is to be faithful stewards. |

Our newly-formed Life and Justice Panel held its second meeting in November. We had a lively conversation about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and ways we can expand knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching. New members are always welcome! We are looking for people who are passionate about the church's work of charity and justice.
A Catholic Voice for Justice has been recruiting members and rubbing elbows. Learn more here!
A few parishes hosted Work of Human Hands sales for the first time this Advent. Thank you to volunteers from Sacred Heart in Cut-Off and St. Thomas Aquinas, who supported artisans in the developing world and taught fellow parishioners about global solidarity and the dignity of work.
Catholic Charities and Parish Social Ministry are excited to announce their support for The Catholic Climate Covenant and the St. Francis Pledge to Care for Creation and the Poor. This program lets parishes or individuals learn about the effects of climate change on the most poor and vulnerable, pray about the issue, and take action to find solutions. Learn more here! |
Every day we are faced with decisions about how to live out our faith. We have to find a way put the needs of the poor first, to welcome strangers, to promote life, and to speak up for the voiceless. The following news stories highlight some of those tough decisions. What would you do?
