Oil Spill Disaster Relief Fund
Bishop Sam G. Jacobs has announced the establishment of an Oil Spill Relief Fund in order to provide emergency assistance to those affected by the crisis.
In making the announcement, Bishop Jacobs said: “We have pulled together in the past when we have been faced with dire circumstances. We will pull together again in the present situation. We depend first of al on God, then on each other, then on the government. We will not wait for assistance. As a church and as a people of faith we will again be the first responders reaching out to those affected. We can’t do everything, but what we can do within our limited resources, we will do. We are in this together, and God is with us. This is the time for action and each of us has a part to play.”
All parishioners throughout the diocese are asked to keep the families affected by this disaster in their prayers and to include them in the prayers of the faithful at all Masses, beginning with those killed and injured in the explosion and including all of those who stand to lose their livelihoods.
Those wishing to send a contribution may do so by sending a check or money order to:
Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux
Oil Spill Disaster Relief
P.O. Box 505
Schriever, LA 70395
Individuals are asked to identify the donation for the “Oil Spill Disaster Relief Fund.”
