Conference Presenters
Bishop Sam Jacobs is the bishop of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux. For years, he has been a national speaker focusing on the power of the Holy Spirit. Bishop Sam will be on hand throughout the entirety of the conference, leading Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and presiding over the Closing Mass.
Deacon Alex Jones and his wife, Donna, reside in Detroit where he was a minister of two churches prior to coming to realize the Truth of the Eucharist-centered Catholic Church. He and 54 members of is former congregation entered R.C.I.A. and were welcomed into the Catholic Church on Easter in 2001. Deacon Alex will give two keynote presentations during the Man of God Conference. The Friday night presentation will define New Evangelization, why it is important, the contrast of classical versus new evangelization and what has the Holy Father said about it. Saturday’s keynote will focus on “Go and Do” while drawing on the documents of Pope John Paul.
Paul George together with Gretchen, his wife, have been state-wide missionaries for the past 16 years. Together, they primarily serve Christ and His Church through Adore Ministries, a Catholic non-profit organization they founded in 2004 which aims to call all people to worship God with their lives. Paul will journey with us through the conference weekend as our host. He will also present a workshop entitled “Evangelization 201” where he will give evangelization tools for those who are already involved with the New Evangelization movement and looking to go further in the ministry.
Jimmie Danos has been married to his wife, Mona, for 39 years. He has passionately pursued the promotion of “Evangelization” within the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux for over 30 years. Jimmie will present the workshop “The Role of the Holy Spirit” which will delve into just how it is the Holy Spirit works in New Evangelization and why it’s always important to reply upon and listen to the movement of the Holy Spirit. The workshop will also incorporate some time of ministry and prayer amongst the group of men present.
Tim Bogan is the Director of New Evangelization for the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux. Tim was raised Catholic but left the Catholic Church only to return over 10 years later upon having the Holy Spirit reveal to him the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Tim’s workshop presentation, “Evangelization 101” is geared towards those just beginning with the New Evangelization movement. He’ll help each man to understand how best to tell their spiritual story as well as how not to be afraid to share it with others.
More Than Sunday featuring Lonnie Lapeyrouse, Matt Bourgeois, Mark Duplantis & Doug Hamilton will lead worship for the conference weekend. Having come together to lead worship at Mass for the first time in January 2001, they’ve been playing Christian music together since. Their combined talents and strong spirituality make for an atmosphere conducive to praying to God through music. Their first CD sold over 1500 copies and they are currently working on the second CD set for release this summer
