Seventh Annual Pere Menard Canoe Trip
Pere (Father) Menard founded numerous church parishes in this region and ministered to thousands of Catholics in the mid-1800’s. Since the summer of 2001, the Office of Vocations has annually honored Pere Menard by retracing the path he took to establish the Catholic faith in the Lafourche area. From June 16th to 19th the Office of Vocations along with Diocesan seminarians and young men, who are discerning vocations, will once again travel by canoe, stopping at every parish from St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux to Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Golden Meadow, for a total of nine churches to pray and share with those communities the faces of, God willing, the future priests and leaders of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.
Here is the schedule of church visits that the Trip will be making down Bayou Lafourche:

Monday, June 16th:
Start: St. Joseph Co-Cathedral: Mass with Bishop Jacobs @ 8:00am
St. Thomas Aquinas: Prayer/ Blessing/ Send-off @ 9:30am
St. Charles Borromeo: Lunch and Day time prayer @ 11:30am
St. Mary’s Nativity: Supper and Rosary/Divine Mercy @ 6:30pm
Tuesday, June 17th:
St. Hilary of Poitiers: Mass and Lunch @ 12:00pm
Holy Savior: Dominican Cloister audience and Way of the Cross @ 6:00pm
Wednesday, June 18th:
Our Lady of the Rosary: Mass @ 6:30pm and Fais-dos-dos provided by LA- Rose (a local Cajun band) following Mass. Jambalaya dinner provided by K of C Council 8898.
Thursday, June 19th:
Sacred Heart of Cut Off: Morning Prayer and Seminarian Testimony @ 9:30am
St. Joseph of Galliano: Lunch and Meeting with Community @ 12:30pm
End: Our Lady of Prompt Succor of Golden Meadow: Mass @ 6:00pm and Seafood Boil following Mass, provided by K of C Council 9000
