Diocesan Disaster Services

CCHT coordinates the diocesan assistance to victims of disasters. In time of natural disasters CCHT responds in partnership with local parishes through the Matthew 25 Program, the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul societies throughout the diocese, as while as in partnership with local and nation agencies.

Yearly, CCHT also sponsors the annual TRAC disaster preparedness guide.
We are also a sponsor of the prototype TRAC/MIT hurricane resistant,
elevated LIFT house and have agreed to sponsor 5 such homes.

CCUSA VISIT

Rev. Larry Snyder, President of Catholic Charities USA and Kim Burgo, CCUSA Director of Disaster Response visited CCHT on April 28, 2009.  The pair met with Robert Gorman, CCHT Executive Director and Germaine Jackson, Director of Social Services before visiting the Dulac Community to view a LA LIFT house under construction and to visit a homeowner in a completed LA LIFT house.  In 2008, CCHT sponsored three additional LA LIFT hurricane-ready houses through TRAC.  The sponsorhip was made possible by a grant from Catholic Charties USA.
