A Steubenville Youth Conference is an event that addresses
the needs of today’s Catholic youth. We have an exciting line up of speakers,
musicians, and entertainers. Some highlights of the weekend are: Holy Mass,
Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, men’s and women’s
sessions, small group discussion time and meeting new friends.
Steubenville on the Bayou is sponsored by Franciscan
University of Steubenville and the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux. Since 2006, they
have worked together to provide a powerful weekend of evangelization for
Catholic teens. Located at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic
Center, Steubenville on the Bayou provides
a setting for developing a deeper relationship with Jesus through a weekend
conference centered on Eucharistic Adoration and the Sacrament of
Participants Attend in Groups!
Participants must attend as part of
a group. Log onto the “Participants” page of www.SteubenvilleOnTheBayou.com to register. A “group” consists of 1 Group Leader (GL)
+ 1 Chaperone for every 8-10 youth participants, with a minimum of 2 youth. A
“youth” is defined as anyone in grades 8th through 12th for the current school
year. The GL and Chaperones MUST be at least 21 years of age, it is highly
recommended that the GL be 25 years old. The GL MUST be attending the
conference weekend with the group and MUST be the one who is in contact with
the Conference Office as well as the one who checks the group in at the start
of the Conference.
*Everyone who is 18 years of age and older MUST be in
compliance with their own Diocesan Policies for the Protection of Children and
Seminarians & Religious
We invite and
encourage Deacons, Seminarians and Religious to attend the Steubenville On The
Bayou Catholic Youth Conference at no charge; however, you MUST register as
either a volunteer or with your group as a participant.

Volunteers are the
backbone of the Bayou Conference. We invite adults 18 and over to register as
volunteers. All volunteers must have up-to-date Diocesan Safe Environment
Training through their Church Parish/Diocese. For those adults who cannot be present
during the weekend, we ask for your Intercessory Prayer for the Bishop,
speakers, musicians, staff, volunteers and participants.

What is a Steubenville
Steubenville is a town
in Ohio. Franciscan University is in Steubenville and there are many
conferences on campus throughout the year. The youth conferences have been
happening at the university since 1975. The first off campus youth conference
was held in Alexandra, Louisiana in 1995. There are now over 21 youth
conferences held throughout the United States and Canada. This will be the
eleventh year for the Steubenville conference in the Diocese of

person attend a Steubenville youth conference?
The whole vision of
the conference is to lead teens to Christ and to give them a deeper
understanding and love for their Catholic faith.
What is the cost to
attend the conference?
attending with groups must pay to attend the conference. The price for Groups
Leaders, Chaperones and youth participants is $150.
Can I come to a
Steubenville On The Bayou Conference if I am not part of a group?
No, you must be a part
of a youth group to attend Steubenville on the Bayou. If you need help finding

How big does
a group have to be?
A group must consist
of at least two youths and two adults.
Can we come if we are
not a regular parish youth group?
Yes, you can make up a
group of any youth and adults. However, our Verification Form must be signed by
your parish’s Pastor. You must have the support of your parish’s Pastor and
anyone who is over 18 years of age must be in compliance with the Safe
Environment policies of your diocese in order for your group to attend.
